Food & Beverage Training for Hospitality Careers

Passionate about hospitality and great service? CALV’s Food & Beverage Programs prepare you with hands-on skills, industry insights, and a certificate recognized by top employers—giving you a head start in the fast-paced world of food and beverage service.

Program Highlights

Start Dates: Monthly start dates available
Campus: Las Vegas
Certificate Value: Equivalent to one year of industry experience with participating partners
Financial Aid: Available for eligible students (including Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165 members)

Food and Beverage Program Offerings

Length: 61 hours (3 weeks)
Description: Learn table greeting, customer service, and dining area cleaning. Gain hands-on experience at CALV’s food venues.
Requirements Age 17+, valid ID, Social Security Card, SNHD Food Handler Card, ability to lift 50 pounds, proficiency in English or successful completion of Vocational English class
Cost: $887 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 107 hours (5 weeks)
Description: Learn table greeting, suggestive selling, customer service, food and wine service, and POS operation. Gain hands-on experience at CALV’s food venues.
Requirements: Age 21+, valid ID, Social Security Card, SNHD Food Handler Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, 6 months of experience as a bus person (waived with completion of CALV Bus Person training program), proficiency in English
Cost: $1297 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 87 hours (3 weeks)
Description: Learn customer service, POS operation, and how to craft coffee, espresso, and tea drinks. Gain hands-on experience at CALV’s food venues.
Requirements: Age 17+, valid ID, Social Security Card, SNHD Food Handler Card, proficiency in English
Cost: $965 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 32 hours (2 weeks)
Description: Learn bar equipment cleaning, maintenance, chemical handling, and local alcohol laws. Gain hands-on experience with bar tools and utensils.
Requirements: Age 21+, valid ID, Social Security Card, SNHD Food Handler Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, proficiency in English
Cost: $640 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 62 hours (4 weeks)
Description: Build on bar porter skills with drink recipes, cash handling, and alcohol knowledge. Develop expertise in customer service standards.
Requirements: Age 21+, valid ID, Social Security Card, SNHD Food Handler Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, 6 months of experience as a bus person, food server, cocktail server, and/or bar porter (waived with completion of CALV Bar Porter training program), proficiency in English
Cost: $855 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 32 hours (4 weeks)
Description: Learn wine basics, service techniques, and guest satisfaction principles. Prerequisite for the Advanced Wine Server program.
Requirements: Age 21+, valid ID, Social Security Card, SNHD Food Handler Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, 6 months of experience as a bus person, food server, cocktail server, bar porter, and/or bartender, (waived with completion of CALV Bar Apprentice training program), proficiency in English
Cost: $1360 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members

Length: 30 hours (4 weeks)
Description: Expand wine knowledge with history, winemaking, regions, and tasting. Prepare for sommelier certification programs.
Requirements: Age 21+, valid ID, Social Security Card, SNHD Food Handler Card, Alcohol Awareness Card, must complete CALV Introduction to Wine Server program, proficiency in English
Cost: $1850 (tuition assistance available for qualifying students) | No charge for employer partner team members
